New versions of the built-in Mail, Calendar, People, and Messaging Windows 8 apps reached the store a few hours ago, only a few weeks ahead of the public launch of Windows 8.1.
Microsoft is most likely trying to update the apps for the new operating system that’s said to bring a lot of improvements to the pre-installed Metro tools.
While the company hasn’t also updated the release notes published in the Store, the new versions most likely bring performance and stability improvements, so expect these apps to load quicker and be more stable. As usual, the new versions are available via the “Updates” section of the Windows Store.
As far as Windows 8.1 is concerned, the new OS is expected to go live on June 26 in preview form, while the stable build will see daylight sometime this year.
