Until Microsoft fixes its provisioning data servers so users can finally download Windows 10 for Phones build 10051, here are some of the issues that you will definitely encounter while using this version of the OS.

The list of known issues published by Microsoft is pretty long, but contains critical info on what needs to be fixed in the upcoming versions of Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview.

First and foremost, if you run build 9941, the first version of Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview released back in February, then you will have to use Windows Phone Recovery Tool to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 so that you can upgrade to version 10051.

The same folks who upgrade from version 9941 should know that the tiles on the Start screen for the Camera and Photos apps may be missing or corrupt. The only way to fix this issue is to unpin and re-pin them.

Another issue would be the fact that, on phones with 512MB of RAM, apps can randomly crash due to an issue with memory management that hasn't been fixed yet.

Also, on some phones, due to a scaling bug, the dismiss button won''t be visible when an alarm is triggered, so you will need to touch the arrow and swipe up on the notification and off the screen to end the alarm.

Don't install this version if you plan on using MS Office

According to Microsoft, there might be some scenarios in which auto-upload of Camera Roll to OneDrive may not work. This means that you will have to back up your photos.

Keep in mind that Office Hub has been removed from this build, so you won't be able to open Word, Excel, PowerPoint or OneNote files. According to Microsoft, preview versions of the universal Office apps will be released in the coming weeks.

It's also worth mentioning that, in this build, none of the Bluetooth-based interaction, with Cortana will be working because Microsoft is reworking the interaction between the personal assistant and Bluetooth.

Microsoft also states that some apps that have been installed on an SD memory card may fail to launch after upgrading to this build. You will need to uninstall and reinstall these apps in order to fix the issue.

About 1% of the time, incoming phone calls may not play a ringing sound. Furthermore, Call and SMS filtering will definitely not work after upgrade.

A few other known issues mentioned by Microsoft include the fact that Flight mode can't be enabled, while data connections can't be disabled. Also, you may need to re-pin the Phone app after the upgrade.

Last but not least, the Insider Hub will be included but may fail to launch on some phones. No word on what Lumia models will be affected by this issue.
