For SQL Server 2005

In the recent period, Microsoft used to deliver more and more updates for its products because it is very important for its users to cover critical holes discovered in its tools. Take for example Internet Explorer that is often regarded as one of the most vulnerable browsers in comparison to Mozilla's Firefox, the application that is described as the safest alternative for Microsoft's program. The situation is somehow similar for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 that also contains numerous vulnerabilities or security flaws able to make the computer even more opened to attacks.

"Microsoft is seeking to resolve a technical glitch caused by Service Pack 2. For some installations, cleanup tasks stop prematurely after applying the service pack. The hotfix, which Microsoft has designated a "critical update," is available for existing SQL Server 2005 installations with Service Pack 2. For SQL Server 2005 or 2005 SP1 installations, Microsoft has released an updated Service Pack 2. Organizations that have tested Service Pack 2 for deployment should consider additional testing to ensure the hotfix causes no application compatibility problems," Microsoft Watch reported in an article published today.

This period is at least interesting when we talk about Microsoft because more and more security companies are writing advisories about the software giant's products. As you surely know, Microsoft released on January 30 the latest version of its operating system, Windows Vista that was meant to revolutionize our computer activities. Although Vista is regarded as the most security operating system ever created by the company, the security advisories are just contradicting the software giant. Windows Vista contains several security tools such as Windows Firewall, Application Control or Windows Defender but numerous companies including Symantec and Softwin already announced a Vista-compatible security application.
