Microsoft Unveils New Hybrid Peripherals on Steroids

Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and Wireless Laser Mouse 7000

With the promise to recharge peripheral perception, Microsoft is delivering a new line-up of hybrid peripherals on steroids. The Redmond company has revealed the next step in the evolution of two of its most popular examples of peripherals, blending desktop with notebook portability. In this context, Microsoft unveiled the new versions of the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and the Wireless Laser Mouse 7000.

While both products have been around for quite some time, Microsoft has raised the stakes

and injected "rechargeable" steroids into the two products. The Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, in this regard, provides users with a combination between a full-size mouse and a portable snap-in transceiver designed to enable easy storage, while at the same time extending the mobility of the product. Essentially, what the company aims to offer customers is a desktop mouse that can very easily go mobile.

"Our research shows that consumers are more mobile than ever when it comes to using their computers," said Sean Butterworth, product marketing manager at Microsoft. "With the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, they can easily take their notebook computer and mouse with them, from the desk to the kitchen or to their local coffee shop, without having to compromise on size and comfort."

The new Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 also bring to the table a revamped redesign, in addition to their wireless capabilities. Both peripherals will be made available in March, the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 coming with a price tag of $49.95, while the Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 will cost $69.95.

"The Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 feature advanced wireless technology using 2.4GHz frequency. Intelligent technology 'hops' frequency when it encounters interference, making it ideal for crowded wireless environments with multiple computers. Users can sit back and click up to 30 feet away from the transceiver, even if it is out of sight. Both mice feature Microsoft's High Definition Laser Technology, which delivers unprecedented advantages with improved responsiveness, greater precision and smoother tracking," Microsoft added.
