The second-generation Surface is already here, so Microsoft can now focus on strategies to boost sales of the refreshed devices.

Accessories are very important for buyers, so Redmond today rolled out some new protective covers, some of which are not only supposed to protect the device, but also to look good.

“Chances are if you've purchased a Surface you want to protect your investment and keep it safe. You may also want something functional and fun to carry around your Surface in. There is a growing assortment of cases and sleeves that range from stylish to very functional for Surface that fit the bill,” Microsoft explained.

The new sleeves from Trina Turk, for example, come with a soft microfiber interior to absorb shock and with eye-catching prints in several colors.

The Maroo Leather Folio Case, on the other hand, is made of genuine leather and is supposed to protect both the back and the front sides of the tablet.

The most interesting new accessory is definitely the so-called Capture case that comes with an adjustable strap which makes it possible to use the tablet even when running (not sure why you’d want that).

“Incipio has created some ultra-rugged and strong new cases. The Capture case is built for durability and superior protection, having a 360-degree rotating handle and adjustable strap make it easy to use your Surface in situations where you need to be highly mobile. Incipio’s Feather case snaps right on and is ultra-thin. Don’t be fooled by its lightweight feel though, it's made with a rigid, hard-shell for durable protection,” Microsoft said about this particular cover.

Of course, all these new accessories are available from Microsoft stores, with the company now working with partners to bring them in all locations where the Surface 2 is currently being sold.
