Microsoft continues work with partners to bring high-quality content on Windows 8 and today Ubisoft confirmed in a short tweet that Assassin's Creed: Pirates would soon be launched on the modern operating system.

This basically means that users will be able to play the game right in the modern UI of Windows 8, but it's not yet clear whether Microsoft and Ubisoft are planning to offer it free of charge as a Windows 8-exclusive or sell it for a small fee as on the other platforms.

Of course, expect the game to come with support for both desktops and tablets running Windows 8, so in case you've already purchased a Surface RT, Assassin's Creed: Pirates should work on your device as well.

The game would obviously boast a touch-optimized UI that would make it just perfect for tablets running Windows 8 and will most likely come in the form of a universal app that would also work on Windows Phone 8.1.

In the meantime, Microsoft and Ubisoft also launched a web-based version of the game that can be played right in your browser, on condition that you've already installed a modern app such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome. More information will surface soon, as the two companies continue work on the project.
