The company didn't actually register the addresses before the Xbox One reveal

Microsoft is currently engaged in a legal battle with several so-called cybersquatters, who registered the XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net website domains after the company's Xbox One reveal event last week.

Microsoft apparently chose to delay the registration of website domains linked to its next-gen Xbox One until after the device's reveal, even if it did register plenty of misleading domains up until the console's announcement.

This has resulted in certain cybersquatters registering domain names linked to the console and now asking Microsoft huge sums of money for the rights to the addresses.

The company is refusing to pay, according to Fusible, and has filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum, which is the authority that decides such domain disputes.

As of yet, it's unclear when a ruling will be made, so Xbox One fans will have to stick to Microsoft's official websites for actual info.
