14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system has grown a lot over the past few years, mainly courtesy of handsets that are aimed at the entry-level of the market, but which have a great disadvantage when compared to the rest of the Windows Phone pack, namely only 512MB of RAM.
Although the operating system itself works perfectly well even on such mobile phones, not all applications and games built for the platform are compatible with them, which often leaves many users out of great software.
However, Microsoft has been working with developers to optimize their products for these handsets as well, and the company is now teasing a series of appealing mobile titles that are compatible with 512MB Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
One of them is Halo: Spartan Assault, which has landed on Windows Phone a while ago and which should work nicely on entry-level handsets running under the operating system, according to Microsoft.
The game promises a vivid storytelling and intuitive controls, while also bringing to smartphones the intensity and action of the Halo universe, along with signature weapons and vehicles.
“Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Davis are stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity, and they need your support to battle out the Covenant forces. The battleground is set for you to dodge bullets and achieve the mission and maneuver your tank stealthily,” a post on Nokia Conversations reads.
Farm Frenzy 2 is also available for the low-end Windows Phone handsets out there, offering a trip to the countryside and allowing users to feed chickens, collect eggs, or take poultry products to the market.
Next, there’s Jet Car Stunts WP, which promises a great experience with spins, flips, massive jumps, mid-air hoops, spiral roadways and more. The title comes with 70 levels and three different game modes (Platforming, Time Trial and Freestyle).
In Harbor Master, users will have to control harbor’s shipping traffic and to direct boats into the dock, while also having to unload cargo from as many ships as possible of varying sizes and colors.
“Explore seven maps and battle it out with the pirate ships and help your own ship to unload its contents. Don’t forget the unannounced cyclones that can leave your ship off course and put your job at risk. Stay alert and navigate your ships safely, keeping in mind the cargo boats that dash in from random directions,” said blog post reads.
However, these are only some of the games that owners of 512MB Windows Phone devices can enjoy, as the list also includes BulletAsylum, Microsoft Minesweeper, Lode Runner Classic, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Microsoft Mahjohng, Z0MB1ES (on the phone), Game Chest: Solitaire Edition, Rise of Glory, and others more.
