Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s working on a new Windows version codenamed Blue, but no specifics have been provided so far.

Peter Klein, Microsoft’s chief financial officer, used the conference call with financial analysts on Thursday to talk about Windows Blue, again without providing official details on what’s expected to be a major overhaul of the currently number one operating system of the Redmond-based tech giant.

“Looking ahead, we will release the next version of Windows, codenamed Windows Blue, which further advances the vision of Windows 8 as well as responds to customer feedback,” he briefly said in a statement.

As we’ve already told you, these statements could actually be a hint that Microsoft has finally decided to listen to customer feedback when it comes to the lack of a Start button, as this one of the most criticized aspects of the new Windows 8.

Rumor has it that Microsoft might bring back the Start button in Windows 8.1 together with a dedicated option to bypass the Start Screen and boot directly to desktop.
