Microsoft has not yet revealed the future plans it has for one of its biggest franchise, Halo, following the launch of Bungie's last title in the series, Reach, but recent statement from a Microsoft executive suggests that the company is aiming to deliver a similarly wide ranging experience that aims to satisfy a high number of gamers.

Speaking to the magazine Xbox World 360 Drank O'Connor, who is the director in charge of franchise development at Microsoft, has stated, “Honestly the secret of Halo's success is that it has something for everyone - a deep, rewarding sandbox of engaging vehicles, cool weapons and challenging AI. A sci-fi adventure for fiction fans. A sense of mystery and wonder for folks who like that sort of thing. User Creation tools for would-be game designers, and of course, competitive, exciting multiplayer.”

He added, “I'd hazard to say there are a lot of folks who haven't tried Halo, who think they might not like it, who would actually find some really engrossing facet of what's a very richly featured game.”

O'Connor seems to have been purposely vague, not offering any red meat to those who are looking for information on what Microsoft plans to do next with Halo.

343 Industries, a company which has poached some veterans from Bungie, is rumored to be working on the next game in the series but no information on it has been offered.

Some sources are claiming that Microsoft is ready to remake both the first Halo and the second one using the latest technology, showing those who have only picked up Halo: Reach what they have been missing so far.

Bungie is at the moment working with publisher Activision Blizzard on a new franchise, recently registering some names but not offering any other details yet.

Halo: Reach was one of the best sellers of 2010 and more than 33 billion kills have been registered in the game before the end of the year.
