The Redmond Company stays right on track with the multicore strategy announced by CEO Steve Ballmer with a preponderance for Internet services and has consequently unveiled Windows Live Spaces.
In a press release, Microsoft described its new Live Space service as an opportunity that will permit friends to connect online while simultaneously being an overhaul of its MSN Spaces blogging service. For Live Spaces, the evolution into the next generation of online solutions translates into social networking features. And with Microsoft providing its users with customization options for their personal Live Space, via various personalization gadgets, its Windows Live Spaces social networking services clearly takes on MySpace.com. The moment is less opportune for MySpace.com who has been plagued with malicious attacks and downtime periods in the past weeks, analysts warning that a consumer preference shift may result as a consequence of such disruptions. The Redmond Company has already announced that it will bundle advanced security services with Live Spaces and that it will also offer Windows Live QnA beta, a toolbar feature that will complement its social networking solution.

"With the release of products such as Windows Live Spaces, we continue to deliver on our mission of bringing customers closer to the information and people that matter to them most," said Steve Berkowitz, senior vice president of the Online Services Group at Microsoft. "Windows Live and Internet-based ad-funded software and service are critical to driving growth for the company, and we are energized about the continued investments we're making to help provide consumers with a seamless and safer online experience."

Windows Live Spaces aims to conjugates its blogging mail and instant messaging communities on a singular global platform by offering them the possibility to personalize their own Live Space Web site with a selection of blogs, photography and music lists. Learning from MySpace.com's mistakes, Windows Live Spaces will provide additional protection based on user profile. This means that underage users will be able to initiate and to receive contact exclusively from users in their contact list.
