Microsoft is enhancing the iPhone App download experience by leveraging the visual search associated with its decision engine and its barcode technology.

iPhone owners can visit Bing Visual Search Beta and access the Top iPhone apps, which features a collection of over 2,700 applications, and extremely useful filtering options allowing customers to easily drill down and explore the items available for their phone.

But now, the software giant has simplified the download experience even more by integrating Microsoft Tag with Bing Visual Search.

“No longer do you have to find the app on Bing, go to the App Store on your mobile, search for it again and finally hit “Install”,” revealed Amit Kumar, from the Bing team.

“With Bing’s new Microsoft Tag implementation on the Visual Search gallery, you can download apps with just a snap of a tag.

“After downloading the Microsoft Tag Reader for your iPhone, snap the tag associated with the app, which will launch a detail page of the application in the iPhone App Store allowing you to download the app with one tap.”

Ahead of anything else, users need to download Microsoft Tag and install it on their phone. This can be done by visiting the Microsoft Tag Reader site (http://gettag.mobi) via the iPhone browser.

Next, when they’re exploring the Bing Visual Search of Top iPhone Apps customers have to fire up the Tag Reader on their iPhone, and simply point the camera to the Tag accompanying a certain application they want for their phone.

“You don’t need to press any buttons, the tag will get resolve and launch the app store as soon as it comes under the view finder,” Kumar said.

“Once the tag is resolved, it will launch app store on your iphone with the app already selected. Just tap “Download” and enjoy the app.”

I cannot stress how simple and seamless this process is. And after all, why shouldn’t it be, since Microsoft Tag is doing all of the heavy lifting.

It appears that the feedback that Microsoft has been receiving for the Bing Visual Search of Top iPhone Apps has been extremely positive, catalyzing the company to enhance the experience even more.

“With over 300,000 iPhone apps on the market today it can be daunting to wade through the sea of options to find that perfect app,” Kumar said.

“If you’re searching on your device, the screen size and speed can make it even harder. Enter the top iphone app gallery in Visual Search where we bring together many of the most popular iPhone apps, organized by category with details and links to more information about the app, to help you find that perfect app more quickly. If you haven’t checked it out, you should.”
