Microsoft has just announced that the upcoming Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet would hit the market in January 2013 and would be released in two different versions.

Pricing will start at $899 (€690) for the 64 GB model, while the 128 GB version will be offered with a price tag of $999 (€770).

Both versions will come with a Surface pen with Palm Block technology and although the package won’t include a Touch Cover or a Type Cover, it’ll support both of them.

As compared to the Surface RT, Surface with Windows 8 Pro will feature Intel’s next-generation Core i5 processor that “will give Surface with Windows 8 Pro a graphics boost for its 10.6” 16:9 ClearType display that runs at a 1920x1080 full HD resolution,” as Panos Panay, general manager of Microsoft Surface, said.

A full-size USB 3.0 port will also be available, while the Mini DisplayPort supports external displays with resolutions of up to 2560x1440.

The tablet will weigh less than two pounds (907 grams) and will be only 14 millimeters thick.
