Microsoft and its partners have launched several special campaigns this holiday season to boost sales of the revamped Surface product lineup and it turns out that all these efforts are already paying off.

Mashable writes that both the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 are sold out at most stores across the United States, especially thanks to these major price cuts prepared for the holidays.

While no clear figures are available for the time being, it turns out that Best Buy, Walmart, and Microsoft stores are running out of tablets, so one can barely find a Surface in the United States right now.

Of course, it might be a bit too early to talk about a major hit, but it’s pretty clear that the second-generation Surface is already more successful than the original models, as more tablet buyers are now turning their attention to Microsoft’s device.

“As somebody working on the Surface team it’s certainly been exciting to see the public reaction to these two new products,” Ben Reed Senior Manager for the Microsoft Surface team, told Mashable.

“With regards to specific inventory levels or sales numbers we don’t comment on those specific figures... I would say that it’s our goal to get these two tablets into as many people’s hands as possible and we’re actively working with manufacturing teams and retail partners to replenish stock where it’s been sold out as soon as possible.”

Both the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 come with upgraded hardware and run either Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1, the refreshed version of the modern operating system that packs lots of improvements, including a Start button.

The Surface 2 is available in two storage options, with 32 GB or 64 GB of storage space, while the Surface Pro 2 can be yours with 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, or even 512 GB of storage.
