Microsoft doesn’t provide any sales figures on the Surface tablet but, according to sources familiar with the matter, the device isn’t such an appealing product these days.

Citing “people with knowledge of the company’s sales,” Bloomberg reports that Microsoft sold approximately 1.5 million Surface tablets, out of which 400,000 are Pros.

The Redmond-based technology titan has apparently ordered more than 3 million Surface RTs, so sales of the device are well below expectations.

The Pro version, on the other hand, is experiencing decent sales, as the company has managed to sell approximately 400,000 units in just one month after launch.

The Surface Pro is the upgraded model of the RT tablet that comes with the full version of Windows 8 Pro and with support for desktop applications. Pricing for a Pro tablet starts at $899 (€690).
