Microsoft hasn’t yet revealed sales data for its first tablet device in history, but an analyst claims that early figures suggest the Surface RT is quite a disappointing product.

“While the anticipation and launch of Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system has been one of the most talked about technology stories of 2012, we believe initial adoption of the OS and sales of Microsoft’s first tablet have been disappointing,” FBR Capital analyst David Hilal said according to Forbes.

Microsoft has recently decided to start selling the Surface RT through third-party retailers across the world, so the device is now available at non-Microsoft stores in the UK, the US and France.

More countries will get the Surface RT in the upcoming months, the company guarantees as it strives to boost sales just before the Surface with Windows 8 Pro comes out.

Lets see the Xmas sales to make a judgement call. Microsoft vapor-priced the Slate 2.0 (er a Surface) at $199 and got the microsofties all lathered up about how MS could afford to take a loss on the hardware like the Xbox to get market share and compete with Apple. Then MS priced the Surface at what some consider a higher price point than the iPad based on the lack luster specs vs an even price with the iPad.

Now the market is reflecting that Window 8 is a pretty confusing experience, even for those that know Windows, Mac, Linux and iPad…

Lets see how Xmas sales turn out
