It appears that Surface Pro 3 buyers are already experiencing some serious problems

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 has reached its very first customers last week, but it turns out that the first issues with the device have already been found.

If you're a long-time Surface user, you probably remember that both the Surface RT and the first-generation Surface Pro suffered from some issues that led to limited Wi-Fi connectivity, which in most of the cases meant that owners could no longer browse the web unless they rebooted the tablets.

Microsoft has tried for months to fix the bug and managed to do it after rolling out a few patches, but it turns out that the Surface Pro 3 has exactly the same problem.

A number of Pro 3 buyers confirmed on Microsoft's Community forums that limited Wi-Fi connectivity is experienced when leaving the tablets in stand-by for a longer period of time.

Several users have already complained on the forums that the problem exists on their devices, but Microsoft is yet to provide a statement on what's wrong and when it plans to fix it.

“I have experienced the same issue. After I stop using the SP3 for a period of time it loses network connection. The icon where the WiFi meter icon usually displays is an icon of a computer without a network connection. Swiping the Charms menu shows no network connection,” one user who purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 explained in a post on the Community forums.

“So it's as if the SP3 loses the network stack completely. It never recovers from this. A reboot fixes the issue every time. Hopefully this bug gets fixed quickly otherwise I will have to boot the machine every time I use it. Makes using OneNote with the click of a pen useless.”

The Surface Pro 3 was officially announced on May 20 and comes with a 12-inch screen and several CPU configurations, starting with an Intel Core i3 and ending with an i7.

Storage options start at 64 GB and go all the way up to 512 GB for the top of the range configuration. Of course, pricing continues to be an issue because many people think that the Surface Pro 3 is quite an expensive device, with the top of the range model available for no less than $1,949 (€1,450) in the United States.

We've reached out to Microsoft for a word on this and will update the article when we receive an answer.
