The tech giant says the Surface has no rival when it comes to productivity

Surface is the first tablet in Microsoft’s history, so it’s no surprise that the tech giant is struggling to make it successful.

Part of this plan is a worldwide marketing push that includes not only commercials, but also campaigns and official statements praising the device.

This time, Brian Hall, general manager of the Surface division, said that the Surface is the world’s number one tablet when it comes to productivity, especially because it comes fitted with a keyboard, while also offering users the Office productivity suite.

“Generally speaking, people have talked about how they love that Surface is really the world’s first productivity tablet. It’s a tablet, of course, with beautiful design, great feel, and lots more,” he said.

“But what makes it truly different is that you can also do your work – because of Office, because of the iconic click-in keyboards and Surface kickstand, and because it has ports – for when you need to share a file via USB, get pictures from the camera, add more storage with SD, or plug into a screen.”

Word is that Microsoft will soon debut the second-generation Surface, possibly during the BUILD conference next month in San Francisco.

In addition to Windows 8.1, the first major upgrade for the current Windows 8 OS, Microsoft might also unveil the next Surface product family that would include many more members of different sizes.

First of all, an 8-inch device equipped with touchscreen displays provided by Samsung and running Windows 8.1 is believed to play a key role in Microsoft’s overall strategy. A second 10.6-inch tablet is also on the table, sources familiar with the matter hinted, but no official comments have been released on this.

If all these reports are true, expect the new Surface tablet to be unveiled before the end of the year, most likely ahead of the holiday season.
