Microsoft last month presented the Surface 2 with LTE connectivity, but the device was initially available to those in the United States exclusively.

It appears that Redmond is now ready to launch the new tablet on the Old Continent as well, as WPCentral reports that Surface 2 with 4G support could go on sale in the United Kingdom as soon as May this year.

Microsoft is yet to issue an official announcement on this, but the source claims that Currys and PC World will be the first two stores that will sell the device, but others could join at a later time. Pricing for the Surface 2 with LTE support will start at 539 British pounds, which is about $900 (€655).

Each tablet will come with free Skype calling to landlines, but also with 200 GB of free OneDrive storage, as part of a special Microsoft offer supposed to boost the consumer appeal of the Surface 2 with LTE.

“In addition, when you purchase Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE) you’ll receive 200 GB of free OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive) storage for two years. Mobile professionals, as well as anyone who wants access to their digital life and work while in motion, are going to love it,” Microsoft revealed last month when it announced the new version of the Surface 2.

In the United States, the Surface 2 comes with LTE connectivity from AT&T, but it’s not clear which carrier could provide 4G coverage in the United Kingdom. Previous rumors were claiming that Microsoft was negotiating with Vodafone a potential deal that could help bring the Surface 2 with LTE in Europe.

The Surface 2 with LTE connectivity comes with 64 GB of storage, but people close to Microsoft’s plans indicated that a 32 GB version could also be offered at some point, depending on the sales of the original model.

There’s no word on any potential European markets that could get the Surface 2 with LTE connectivity, but expect Microsoft to launch it in some other countries in the coming months. Germany, France, Italy, and Spain could also get it, but again, there’s no official announcement available right now.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for more information on the European launch of the Surface 2 with LTE connectivity, but also on the markets that could get it in the coming months, so we’ll update the article accordingly when we get an answer.
