Microsoft is reportedly working on a brand new Surface tablet that could be launched in late 2014 and provide superior performance as compared to existing models.

MSFTnerd, a well-known leaker who has until now provided fairly accurate information on Microsoft’s secret projects, claims that Redmond is currently planning to launch a so-called Surface 3 later this year.

It might appear that Microsoft is already discussing with Nvidia on the possibility to power the upcoming tablet with a Tegra K1 processor employing Denver architecture in 64-bit ARMv8 form.

Microsoft hasn’t commented on any new project that might expand the Surface product family, but the company said in 2013 that it’s working to bring more hardware devices to the market, especially because it continues the transformation to a devices and services firm.

A smaller Surface tablet is also said to be on the tablet right now, and so is an LTE version that could see daylight in early 2014.
