Microsoft launched the new-generation Surface in October, but users have already found some bugs affecting the sound and speakers of the tablet.

Posts on the company’s Community forums reveal an issue when trying to play music or movies, with the sound volume being extremely low as compared to the first-generation Surface model.

At the same time, it turns out that the speakers are generating all kinds of weird noises at high volumes when trying to play multimedia content from certain sources.

“I am also experiencing a significant amount of sound crackling (from the speakers and attached headphones) when streaming video from Amazon Instant Video using both the desktop and metro versions of IE. I do not experience this crackling problem with other sound sources like Xbox music, gaming, or other website streaming video (i.e. YouTube),” one user explained.

While this could very well be a software issue, a Microsoft support engineer is recommending users to keep volume below 80 percent or use external speakers for better quality.
