Microsoft has expanded its support efforts via Twitter, and is tending to users in no less than 8 different languages.

In mid-2010 I was telling you that customers in France and Germany, or those speaking French and German could access support from the Redmond company through two new Twitter accounts that the software giant had set up.

At that time, Customer Service and Support (CSS) team was lending a helping “tweet” to users in English, through @MicrosoftHelps, as well as in French and German through @MSVousAide and @MicrosoftHilft.

It appears that customers in additional markets around the world can also turn to Microsoft CSS’ Twitter accounts through the social network.

According to Rob Margel, from Microsoft Help, support is also available to customers in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese and Dutch.

At the bottom of the screen readers will be able to find the links necessary to reach all Microsoft Help Twitter accounts and get the assistance they need straight from the Redmond company.

Of course, considering the limitations of Twitter, Microsoft is not really able to offer much of anything else beyond very sucking advice and links to additional support content.

But users get to interact with the software giant CSS workers directly and enjoy higher chances of receiving information that will end up helping them out.

@MicrosoftHelps has approximately 8,500 followers which it managed to attract in just over a year, considering that the account went live in October 2010.

At the same time @MicrosoftHilft is extremely close to 1,300 followers @MSVousAide just one short of 560.

Fact is that even the other Microsoft Help Twitter accounts attracted quite large audiences, indicating that the Redmond company’s decision to embrace the social network for a much closer interaction with customers was the right one.
