Yet another Microsoft online property overhauled with Metro UI

Microsoft Support is the latest of the Redmond company’s online properties to get a Metro facelift. The site has been drastically overhauled, now sporting the new Metro UI look and feel, which really started to make an impact with the advent of Windows Phone 7.

Softpedia readers have been able to read about similar redesign projects from the software giant, such as the new MSDN and Microsoft Download Center designs.

Both MSDN and the Microsoft Download Center now sport elements of the Metro user interface, and customers can also add Microsoft Support to a list which is bound to continue growing in the future.

The revamped Microsoft Support site makes it easier for end users and business users to get support for their specific needs.

A collection of links enumerating the most common problems users are coming across is available on the home page, along with easy access to mundane tasks such as updating PCs, protecting computers, downloading software and getting information on product lifecycle.

It’s now easier to not only find downloads, but also get to solution centers, buy products, or run an advanced search instead of entering a simple query.

The redesign runs deep, which means that it also impacted the look and feel of individual knowledge base articles.

At the same time, users already familiar with the site will be able to spot a number of elements from the old design.

This makes me think that Microsoft Support is still somewhat in transition, and that the revamping process is yet to be finalized.

Still, the newly redesigned Microsoft Support site looks amazing, and shows a great deal of promise. I particularly like the performance boost that I feel on the home page, especially when swapping “For home” and “For work” in Metro. I just hope that the company will work to accelerate all elements of Microsoft Support, especially KB articles.
