Microsoft is once again going to the courthouse, this time because ScanSource, a South Carolina-based company, has sued the software firm for bait-and-switch tactics.

ScanSource claims that Avanade, a joint venture belonging to Microsoft and Accenture and responsible for its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution Microsoft Dynamics AX, has increased the price of its software from $17 million (€12 million) to nearly $66 million (€50 million).

In addition, the company initially estimated that it would take approximately 11 months to deploy the software, but in the end, the timeframe has been increased to three years.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta alleges fraud, tortious misrepresentation and breach of contract, ScanSource said in a press release. The company is seeking “tens of millions of dollars in damages.”

“Both Microsoft and Accenture concluded that the Project was being mismanaged and made recommendations, including the preparation of an integrated project plan, to stabilize the Project and get it back on a track toward go-live,” the press release reads.
