Just like it happened when Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 Technical Preview for PCs, the early tidbits of the phone version are eagerly awaited by millions of users across the world, so it's easy to see why so many rumors regarding its release date are swirling around the web these days.

Microsoft previously said that Windows 10 for phones preview should ship early this month, and since we're already in February, many users expect to get their hands on the new mobile operating system anytime soon.

Some older rumors pointed out that Windows 10 for phones preview could launch on February 4, and it kind of did. Select testers have reportedly received an early version of Windows 10 on their phones, so this might be the very first step that Microsoft makes towards a global release of the new OS.

But according to the company itself, it's still working on Windows 10 for phones preview, so it might take a little bit longer until everyone gets it.

It could launch before February 15

Since Microsoft said that Windows 10 for phones preview would launch in early February, the new operating system is expected to become available to Windows Insiders sometime in the next couple of weeks, and given the fact that the company has already shipped an early version to select testers, this information could indeed be accurate.

Windows 10 for phones preview will be available, just like its desktop sibling, as part of a Windows Insider program specifically created for devices running Windows Phone 8.1.

An app that will be freely available in the Windows Phone Store will provide access to the early builds of Windows 10 for phones, but users will still have to register for the program before downloading it.

More details will be provided at a later time, when the new preview build becomes available to all users across the world.
