The first Windows 10 update will launch in late 2015

Microsoft is hard at work to finalize Windows 10 and to bring it to the market sometime this summer, but new rumors that are swirling around the web are now indicating that the company is already developing the very first update for the new operating system scheduled to launch later this year.

Although its name is not yet know, Windows 10 Update 1 or Windows 10 Autumn Update, as Russian leaker WZor calls it, could see daylight in October 2015 if everything goes according to plan.

But information coming via unofficial channels is a little bit surprising, to say the least.

First and foremost, with Windows 10 scheduled to come out in July or August, the rapid arrival of Update 1 in October could actually be a sign that the core operating system might launch without a number of features that require additional time to develop.

In other words, Microsoft might not complete development of some features in time for the summer 2015 Windows 10 launch, so instead it plans to include them in Update 1 scheduled to launch in the autumn. This means that Redmond more or less rushes Windows 10, despite the fact that the new operating system itself is a game changer for the company and a critical product in the long term.

Major update with lots of new features

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the very first update for Windows 10, but previous reports on this indicated that Microsoft might be planning only small improvements supposed to correct bugs and boost performance based on feedback received after the launch of the OS.

If WZor’s information is true, Windows 10 Update 1/Autumn Update might play a much more important role for both Microsoft and users, especially if the core OS lacks some of the features that everyone is expecting.

The Windows Insider program will live on even after the launch of Windows 10, so the first updates and the ones coming after it will all be based on the suggestions users enrolled in this new initiative submit.
