Microsoft is currently sending out Windows Phone devices to developers interested in coming up with applications for the company's mobile platform.

The software giant promised these devices a while ago, and they were spotted recently getting ready to take off.

Apparently, the first of them have already arrived on developers' hands, so that they can start testing applications on real devices, and not on the simulator.

The guys over at WPCentral note that Gary Holden, a technology enthusiast and developer, has already received his phone, none other than the HTC Surround.

Apparently, this is the device that will arrive at most developers, although it was already discontinued at some wireless carriers around.

Other lucky developers will get a taste of Windows Phone on Nokia devices, as the Finnish giant promised a number of no less than 25,000 free phones for application builders.
