Windows users are again offered some new updates

It’s no secret that Microsoft rolls out botched updates every once in a while, but the company is working to change this, and Windows 10, the operating system that’s already in development, could address this problem once and for all by eliminating Patch Tuesday completely.

In the meantime, Microsoft is trying to fix existing problems, so the company has silently re-released three updates that were said to be causing issues on Windows computers.

As Woody Leonhard of InfoWorld reports, three updates that were released in the previous months showed up in Windows Update on May 5, even though there’s no information on what they could bring new to users or any other acknowledgement of the caused problems.

KB3022345, KB3046306, and KB3048043 have all been re-issued to Windows users, so in case you were experiencing problems with any of them, just have a look at Windows Update and install all available patches.

Caused trouble

KB3022345 previously failed to install with error 800F0922, and was initially designed for Windows 8.1, but it turns out that the new version is actually supposed to work on Windows 7. This is a little bit unexpected, as Windows 8.1 users confirmed installation issues, so the re-released patch should have been aimed at fixing these problems.

KB3046306, on the other hand, isn’t listed as a botched update, but Microsoft most likely became aware of some issues caused during or after its installation, so the company has re-released it for Windows users.

And lastly, KB3048043 addresses Windows 8.1 issues affecting live tiles, so only users running this particular operating system are expected to get it.

Needless to say, all users are recommended to install them as soon as possible, even though we’ve received reports that some computers received these patches even though they had already installed them successfully.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft to hear more on this and will update the article with a statement when and if we get an answer.
