If you love Surface tablets, you probably know that Microsoft is spending a lot of time designing and testing every single model, with the company itself confirming that it’s even performing some extreme tests on the device to make sure that it copes with everyone’s demands in real life.

As you can see in this video published on YouTube by Bloomberg, Microsoft’s Panos Panay, the man in charge with the Surface division at the Redmond-based tech giant gets us inside the so-called secret Surface lab, which comprises everything from design rooms to machine shops.

Of course, we get to see pretty much every single stage that a Surface tablet needs to pass through in order to see daylight, so hit play below to learn how Microsoft is building these devices.

In the meantime, Microsoft is working to expand the Surface lineup, but as it turns out, no smaller model would ever hit the market.

The company confirmed in its recent financial results conference that the Surface Mini was discontinued, so it’s unlikely to see daylight anytime soon. And still, there are people close to the matter suggesting that the Surface Mini still has a chance to hit the shelves, but at this point it’s not really clear when exactly this could actually happen.
