Microsoft is getting ready to provide the owners of Windows Phone devices with better voice recognition capabilities in the not too distant future, and it has already demoed some of the enhancements that are set to arrive on devices.
The company showcased a Prototype Bing app for Windows Phone that sports a nice range of speech recognition improvements over the previous one, as can be seen in the video above, available courtesy of MSFTKitchen
The application was built to deliver a reduction in word error rate (a 12-15 percent improvement, it seems), and is also capable of reducing the latency for speech requests, it seems.
Furthermore, the new application
will be able to handle speech requests in noisy environments much better than before.
Some of these enhancements are said to have already started rolling out to users in some areas, though it’s yet uncertain when all of them will arrive on devices.
