Microsoft announced yesterday that Outlook.com is no longer a beta service, so all users across the globe can register for an account at absolutely no cost.

Well, it appears that the company’s marketing efforts are quickly paying off, as Microsoft has managed to set a new record, with more than 1.5 million new users recorded in just a single day.

“And for the more than 1.5 million of you who joined Outlook.com since our launch last night, welcome and thank you!” the Outlook.com team said in a short tweet.

Of course, the Redmond-based technology giant will continue to advertise its email service, as the company confirmed in a blog post that several advertisements are scheduled to go live in the coming months all over the world to promote Outlook.com.

How interesting is it that brilliant engineers (at Microsoft) are so * stupid - have no idea whatsoever what the general public thinks or likes. Why "fix" something that isn't broken ? There are obviously too many engineers employed at Microsoft with nothing to do but make the lives of 6 million ex-Hotmail users a misery.(I guarantee 4 million will eventually punish Microsoft by leaving altogether and joining an email service like yahoo.com (definitely not GMail which is another arrogant outfit which thinks it knows better than you do what you want and need). They - the engineers have all gotten drunk on their power and the concept of intuitive thinking for other people, when they are too world-wise * to think for themselves.
