Microsoft continues to gear up for the holiday season. And with the inherent shopping frenzy at the end of the year, the Redmond company has announced that it will make available its lineup of LifeCams via the System Builder channel, beginning with November 1. The initiative marks a first for the Redmond company, and no less than five LifeCams will be offered through System Builders come next month. The product selection is not accidental, as the LifeCams offered are among the top five selling webcams available on the market.

"Microsoft Hardware innovations continue to lead the industry for performance and quality, and our LifeCams are no exception. The webcam market is growing rapidly, and Microsoft Hardware offers a variety of webcam options for OEMs to enable their customers to create a higher-quality video calling experience, both on a desktop and notebook PC," explained Gary Kirchberger, product marketing manager at Microsoft Hardware.

Microsoft has separated its product offerings in accordance with the platform targeted. LifeCam VX-6000, LifeCam VX-3000 and LifeCam VX-1000 are designed for the desktop, while LifeCam NX-6000 and Life Cam NX-3000 come to complement the desktop. The LifeCams that will make their way into the System Builder channel are designed to cover a range of options and tastes and will come with varied price tags from basic to midrange and to high-end.

One important aspect of Microsoft's LifeCams is the fact that the webcams are closely integrated with the company's operating system in the cloud, Windows Live. Features including Windows LiveCall Button, LifeCam Dashboard and One-Touch Blogging recommend the products for heavyweight Windows Live users.

"Microsoft's line of LifeCams includes the No. 2-selling desktop webcam, the LifeCam VX-3000, and the No. 3-selling notebook webcam, the LifeCam NX-6000. The LifeCams add to the PC experience with easy video calling that is more meaningful and interactive through the webcams' close integration with Windows Live Messenger, the world's largest instant messaging network," Microsoft added.
