Microsoft has just released Security Essentials 4.3.219, a new version of its anti-virus solution that can be used on all Windows editions prior to Windows 8.

While the company hasn’t also provided us with any release notes, it’s safe to assume that the new build comes with bug fixes and performance improvements, which means that enhanced protection should now be offered to Windows PCs.

Microsoft Security Essentials 4.3.219 continues to provide support for Windows XP, Vista, and 7, with both 32- and 64-bit versions being compatible.

As far as Windows 8 and 8.1 are concerned, the two OS builds come with Windows Defender, a significantly improved anti-virus product also based on Security Essentials that’s installed and enabled by default on all copies of the OS.
