Microsoft has just updated its famous Security Essentials anti-virus software, so Windows users can now download an improved version that’s supposed to add a new security layer to their computer.

Even though the Softies are yet to provide us with official release notes, Microsoft Security Essentials 4.3.216.0 most likely addresses bugs and issues reported in older builds, so it’s critical to update the application as soon as possible.

Keep in mind that Security Essentials can be installed free of charge as long as you’re running an activated copy of Windows XP, Vista, or 7. Both 32- and 64-bit versions work just fine. Windows 8 users, on the other hand, have their very own built-in anti-virus software. Windows Defender, previously an anti-spyware solution, has been greatly improved for Windows 8, so it now packs real-time protection and many other security options supposed to protect adopters of Microsoft’s modern OS.
