New Windows 10 version would power the Surface Hub

Windows 10 will be available on PCs, tablets, and smartphones, but the company is also working to bring the revamped operating system on smaller and bigger devices as well, and information coming via a job advert confirms that such a version is already in development.

A post on the Microsoft Careers website spotted by @h0x0d reveals that Redmond is looking for a principal program manager who would work on the Surface Hub and who would contribute to “a new edition of Windows that will enable core experiences” on this particular device.

Details aren't available at this time, as it's pretty much a project that Microsoft is working on behind closed doors, but expect it to be a modified version of Windows 10 designed to run on bigger devices and provide advanced collaboration and touch capabilities.

Information posted in the job ad confirms that it's all about building a Windows version for devices with larger screens.

“Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of building products, experience in large scale systems such as Windows, and experience shipping complex systems that require coordination across many teams,” the ad reads.

The Surface Hub coming later this year

Microsoft isn't only working on a Windows 10 version of the Surface Hub but also on the Surface Hub at the same time, as the new device is expected to debut later this year.

The Surface Hub was presented for the very first time in January, at Redmond's Windows 10 event, and comes with an 84-inch 4K display that obviously offers multi-touch and pen input support. There are several features supposed to make collaboration easier, including cameras, microphones, and plenty of sensors, which Microsoft hasn't talked about too much.

The Surface Hub will be specifically aimed at business and companies who want to enhance work in a conference room, and will include Skype, OneNote, plus several other connectivity options.

The device would launch sometime later this year, and a 55-inch version that would be more affordable would also be introduced, the company promised in January.
