Microsoft is expanding the community of users built around Windows Live and, in this context, the Redmond company is fishing around attempting to attract new eyeballs. Users addicted to Windows Live are invited by the software giant to join the community, namely the Windows Live Clubhouse. The audience the Redmond giant is looking for are users who have adopted Windows Live applications and services as an integer part of their lives and that wish to share their experience with potential Clubhouse members.

“The Clubhouse, Microsoft Corp.’s new Windows Live Community, is expanding and looking for new members. Who are Clubhouse members? People who get excited about discovering the cool stuff they can do with Windows Live and want to share their experiences with others. What do Clubhouse members do? Create content about their experiences on their Windows Live Space, which is pulled from their sites and aggregated using RSS feeds; rank other members’ postings and help each other learn new stuff and useful tips,” Microsoft revealed by enumerating the core news facts about Clubhouse.

Microsoft introduced Windows Live Clubhouse back in August 2008 concomitantly with the design overhaul of Windows Live. The initiative was aimed at putting the content produced by end users on the very first page of Windows Live. Now the Redmond giant is looking for fresh meat for its community-driven project. However, ironically enough, Windows Live Clubhouse has come into some problems and is not functioning at normal parameters for the time being, a situation which could be prolonged this week.

“We uncovered some problems with the way club points are being allocated and are in the process of fixing that. In order to make the fix, we’ve also temporarily paused gathering clubhouse posts from your blogs and bringing them into the Clubhouse site for reviewing, rating, and eventually routing to WindowsLive,” revealed a Windows Live Community Manager. “We’re planning to restart everything later this week, most likely on Thursday or Friday. In the mean time, please continue to tag any posts you do, and they will come in automatically when we restart.”

Thanks for letting people know about the Windows Live community.

As Community Manager, I wanted to let everyone know that the Clubhouse is not down. We’re actively recruiting new members and gathering community content. We had to fine tune the Clubhouse points system and as a result have experienced a slight delay in posting community content to the Clubhouse. We expect this to be resolved later today or tomorrow. In the meantime, we encourage people to learn more about the Windows Live community by visiting http://www.windowslive.com/clubhouse/join.
