Bing Search 4.4 was announced by Microsoft today featuring a new ability to discover trending stories and see what the hottest topic across multiple categories of content is, including News, Searches, and Images.

According to the Redmond, WA-based software giant, iPhone and iPod touch customers who are using Bing 4.4 can shake their iDevice to discover a trending story, and use the app’s “home” button to get quick access to tending topics across News, Searches, and Images.

Other new features are highlighted below.

• Multitask using Recent tiles. • Tap the search widget from anywhere in the app for one-hand access to new search, tabs, and voice search. • Manage your bookmarks: separate categories for News, Images, Searches, and Web Results. • Copy web addresses or open websites in Safari.

In addition to its focus on photography and search trends, the Bing iOS app also offers mapping tools for exploring places with ratings, prices, reviews, etc. Users can also employ the app to get walking, driving, and transit directions, complete with current traffic conditions.

Download Bing Search 4.4 on any iPhone, iPod touch, and even iPad tablets with a minimum iOS 4.3 installed. Hardware compatibility begins with iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, and the fourth-gen iPod touch. This version of the app is native only on small-screen devices. The iPad installment has yet to be updated with these new features.
