Microsoft is once again experiencing stock issues with its Surface tablet, as the company is now trying to clear out stocks in anticipation of the second-generation unit.

The company has run out of 64GB Surface Pros in the United States, so in case you’re planning to purchase a Windows 8 Microsoft tablet, your only choice is the top of the range 128GB $999 (€780) model.

Word is that the tech giant is preparing to roll out the second-generation Surface that would also include a 7- or 8-inch unit running the newly-released Windows 8.1.

According to some sources close to the matter, the device is expected to hit the market by year end, most likely just ahead of the holiday season and at about the same time as the new Windows 8.1 operating system.
