Today, Microsoft rolled out official patches to correct an issue in Windows 8.1 that's causing a terrible mouse lag in some games, with many users complaining that gaming becomes impossible after updating to the latest Windows version.

Microsoft previously confirmed the issue and recommended users to tweak the main executable file of the game in order to run it in compatibility mode, saying that some changes in Windows 8.1 messed up the mouse behavior in a number of applications.

"This issue occurs because Windows 8.1 introduced changes to mouse input processing for low latency interaction scenarios. Therefore, games respond to mouse inputs differently in Windows 8.1 than in previous versions of Windows," the company said in a statement earlier this month.

Now Microsoft has finally rolled out fully-working patches supposed to correct the issues on both 32- and 64-bit machines, with the company also revealing the name of some of the games affected by the mouse lag:

Call of Duty: Black Ops Call of Duty: Black Ops - Multiplayer Call of Duty: Black Ops II Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Multiplayer Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Zombies Call of Duty: Ghosts - Multiplayer Call of Duty: MW2 Call of Duty: MW2 - Multiplayer Call of Duty: MW3 Call of Duty: MW3 - Multiplayer Call of Duty: MW Call of Duty: MW - Multiplayer Counter Strike: Global Offensive Counter Strike: Source Deus Ex : Human Revolution Deus Ex : Human Revolution Director's Cut Hitman Absolution Hitman Sniper Challenge Half Life 2 Metro 2033 Portal Tomb Raider

Surprisingly, Microsoft has decided to launch the fixes a bit earlier, even though this month's Patch Tuesday updates will be released next week. This could be an indication that many users have actually been affected by this issue, so make sure you download and install them too as soon as possible.
