Microsoft has just released a brand new version of its anti-virus software Security Essentials, bringing a number of fixes to Windows XP, Vista, and 7 users.

Microsoft Security Essentials 4.4.207.0 Prerelease is supposed to protect all computers running an older version of Windows, as the modern Windows 8 comes with a built-in anti-virus tool called Windows Defender.

Security Essentials comes with the traditional anti-virus feature package that includes real-time protection, virus definition updates and a very intuitive UI to appeal to both beginners and more advanced users.

The new version is most likely supposed to address bugs and issues found in older builds, but keep in mind that it’s still a pre-release package, so a number of glitches might still be experienced in certain scenarios.
