Microsoft has just launched a huge update for all machines running Windows 8.1 RTM, thus getting one step closer to the official launch of the new operating system.

The company has updated basically all built-in Metro apps, including Finance, Travel, Sports, Movie Moments, Weather, Reader, News, Skype, Windows Alarms, and many others.

As you can see in the screenshot above, all new app versions are displayed in the updates section of the Windows Store, so in case your Windows 8.1 device is set to automatically install new releases, no user input is required.

Windows 8.1 is set to make its public debut later today, so this is most likely the GA Rollup A update that reached the web a few days ago.

Expect more details on this as we get closer to the official launch moment.
