A new version of Lync is now available on Windows 8, coming with several improvements and bug fixes supposed to contribute to an overall improved experience on Microsoft’s new operating system.

According to the official release notes, the new version allows users to join meetings even if they don’t have a Lync account, but also to see the Outlook meeting scheduled and join meetings directly from Lync.

In addition, the app now enables users to see contacts and start conversations from snapped view, while also providing better accessibility for high contract modes and screen readers.

“This is Lync reimagined for the new Windows Experience and optimized for touch: providing fast, natural, hands-on control of your communications,” the app description that’s published in the Store reads.
