Microsoft continues to improve the apps it offers with Windows 8, this time with a larger release that brings enhancements to most Modern tools pre-installed in its new operating system, including Maps, Travel, and News.

Updates for the Travel, Maps, News, Sports, and Finance apps are now available from the Windows Store, as each of these apps received new content, features, and bug fixes.

The Travel app for example adds “Nearby” features to find destinations and hotels close to attractions or your current locations, hotel booking services in more countries, and “Favorites” options to maintain lists of destinations, articles and hotels for trip planning.

The Sports app, on the other hand, comes with in-depth coverage of NBA and cricket live games, as well as new tennis, rugby, and soccer competitions.

All the new versions are distributed via the integrated Windows Store, so make sure you check out the updates section to download and install them.
