If you’re a student and want to buy a Surface Pro 3, but the original price is simply too big for your budget, Microsoft has got you covered.

The company recently rolled out a special discount for Surface Pro 3 buyers, allowing students to purchase the tablet with a $150 (€110) price cut in the United States.

The offer is valid until September 3, Microsoft said, and requires verification of student status prior to purchase. The deal is limited to 1 device per student.

As you most likely know by now, the Surface Pro 3 is quite an expensive device, as the top of the range model can be yours for approximately $2,000 (€1,500) in the United States. Here is the original pricing for all Surface Pro 3 models in the US, without any discount:

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 64 GB with Intel i3 - $799 (585 euros) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 128 GB with Intel i5 - $999 (730 euros) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 256 GB with Intel i5 - $1,299 (950 euros) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 256 GB with Intel i7 - $1,549 (1,130 euros) Microsoft Surface Pro 3 512 GB with Intel i7 - $1,949 (1,425 euros)

The Surface Pro 3 is Microsoft’s most advanced tablet to date, with the company claiming that it has what it takes to successfully replace a laptop. It’s equipped with a 12-inch screen, Intel Core i3 to i7 processors, up to 8 GB of RAM and a maximum of 512 GB of storage space depending on the configuration you choose.

“Barely tipping the scales at 1.76 pounds, the new 12-inch Surface Pro 3 has all the power and performance of a premium laptop in a thin and lightweight design. It also comes with the all-new Surface Pen which delivers a natural writing and drawing experience,” Microsoft says.

“Featuring a gorgeous 12-inch display encased in a sleek magnesium frame, Surface Pro 3 is the thinnest and lightest in our Pro family. Refined to its essential elements, Surface Pro 3 is as beautiful as it is functional so you can stay productive from anywhere. Just slip it into your bag or backpack and go.”

For students, the Surface Pro 3 could easily become a lighter and more productive device as compared to a traditional laptop, given that it runs the full version of Windows 8.1 Pro and offers full support for legacy software, such as Photoshop and games.
