The patches were supposed to fix basically everything about the new operating systems

Microsoft has pledged to keep its latest products fully updated with more frequent patches, so the official statistics are pretty surprising.

The company has released a total of 739 updates for Windows 8 and Windows RT in just six months after launch, according to figures provided by Microsoft’s CFO Tami Reller for ZDNet.com.

Basically, the tech giant has rolled out an average of 123 patches for the two operating systems every single month, as the company has tried to patch not only security flaws, but also battery, drivers and stability issues.

While such a big number pretty much makes sense given the fact that both Windows 8 and Windows RT are new products and still need a few adjustments here and there, it’s pretty clear that Microsoft is really keen on patching its new software as soon as possible.

What’s more, the company is reportedly planning to switch to an annual release cycle for the Windows platform, so new versions of the operating system are expected to hit the market every 12 months.
