Although it was initially rumored that Microsoft would launch the new Windows 8 on October 26, the Redmond-based software giant will actually debut the new operating system one day earlier, on October 25.

The company started sending invites (pictured above) to journalists across the United States for an event that will take place in New York City on Thursday, October 25.

No other details have been provided, such as the time or agenda, but new rumors are now suggesting that Microsoft may also debut the Surface tablet during the same press conference.

Although the secrecy behind this whole launch event is killing us, at least we know for sure that Windows 8 will debut next month. More information will probably emerge soon, so we'll keep you posted.
