Microsoft will be holding a new Windows 10 event on January 21, that will be primarily focused on the consumer experience in the new operating system, so plenty of exciting news is expected to be revealed during the conference.

In a post today, Microsoft revealed that the Windows 10 would start at 9 AM Pacific Time (19:00 GMT+2) and an on-demand video would be placed on its official website once the event comes to an end.

At the same time, Microsoft also said that CEO Satya Nadella would also attend the show, and so would Terry Myerson, Joe Belfiore and Phil Spencer, thus confirming that, in addition of Windows 10 news, the event might also witness the unveiling of new details regarding Windows Phone and Xbox.

New build of Windows 10 also coming

Besides presenting new Windows 10 details at the show, Microsoft is also expected to provide Windows Insiders with a new build of the operating system that would include a revamped feature lineup.

A working version of Cortana is also likely to be offered, and so is Continuum, a feature that allows users to switch from the desktop to the Modern UI without interrupting their work.

What’s more, this new build could also come with visual changes such as a dark theme and a redesigned taskbar, with new icons and a search bar that would provide access to Cortana’s features a bit more easily than before.

Spartan could also be on Microsoft’s agenda

Another feature that could be presented at the January 21 event is the new Spartan browser, which could be offered alongside Internet Explorer on both the desktop and the Modern UI at first.

Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed development of Spartan, but leaked screenshots that have reached the web in the last couple of weeks confirm that a new browser is under development right now and could be introduced in the coming months in preview form in another Windows 10 Technical Preview build.

Sources claim that Spartan is still in its early stages right now, so it’s very unlikely to be offered as part of the Windows 10 January Technical Preview build.
