Microsoft Resolves Critical Vista Bug

Following the last public build of Windows Vista, the Release Candidate 2 version, Jim Allchin Co-President, Platforms & Services Division, had promised a few surprises up the operating
system's sleeves, so to speak. But this prediction has come true sooner than expected. A critical problem affecting Vista RC2 emerged just as Microsoft was readying the operating system for release to manufacturing.

In this context, Allchin even denied that Windows Vista would ship to RTM on October 25. The issue was associated with failed upgrades from Windows XP to Vista. To mitigate the problem Microsoft has released internally Vista Build 5840 on 20 October. Microsoft has failed to comment the issue, or to even make it public.

But as a consequence, the release to manufacturing date has been pushed back to November 8. Microsoft is rushing with the RTM to meet the November 23 launch in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where the Office 2007 Suite and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will join Windows Vista for what the Redmond Company refers to as the biggest Microsoft launch event ever.
