Microsoft is getting ready to debut the Xbox 720 later this year and a brand new report mentions that the company will get rid of the old MS Points system found on the Xbox Live service for the Xbox 360, in favor of one that uses real-life currencies from around the world.

The Xbox 720 is expected to be revealed at the end of May and, despite Microsoft not confirming anything about the next-generation console, many details and features have been leaked.

The Verge has just posted a brand new report, this time claiming that Microsoft will finally move on from the MS Points system used by the Xbox Live online service on the Xbox 360.

Instead of that strategy, the company will use a real-life currency system that's already in place on the Windows 8 application store.

Such a move was rumored to be made before the release of the Xbox 720, but Microsoft emphasized that it was going to stick with the MS Points system, at least for now.
