The changes don't go deeper than the name change

Microsoft is rebranding its famous cloud storage service SkyDrive into OneDrive.

Not much is changing, except for the name, something that Microsoft says was pretty difficult. “Of course, changing the name of a product as loved as SkyDrive wasn’t easy. We believe the new OneDrive name conveys the value we can deliver for you and best represents our vision for the future. We are excited about what is to come, and can’t wait to share more,” said Ryan Gavin, general manager for consumer apps and services.

He explains that they picked OneDrive because they want it to become the one place where the most important stuff gets stored. “One place for all your photos and videos. One place for all of your documents. One place that is seamlessly connected across all devices you use,” Gavin writes.

Current users of SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro won’t have to do anything special other than wait until the new brand name gets rolled out. The service will continue to operate as expected as OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.
